Our Story

Acakoro was born from a simple but powerful idea: that talent and potential exist everywhere – even in the most unlikely places. In 2013, a group of dreamers came together in Nairobi’s Korogocho slum with the vision to change children’s lives through football and education.

We started with little more than a dusty pitch, a handful of donated footballs, and a belief that sport could be the key to opportunity. Very soon, our teams began to make headlines. Children from Korogocho, playing barefoot just years before, were suddenly defeating youth teams of giants like FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Victories like these proved to the world – and to our children – that excellence has no borders.

But football alone was never enough. From the beginning, we knew that the true power lay in combining sport with education. Every Acakoro child not only trains at the highest level but also receives quality schooling. In this way, we don’t just build players – we nurture leaders, thinkers, and changemakers.

Over the years, Acakoro has grown into one of Africa’s most respected academies. Some of our alumni now play professionally in Europe and Kenya’s top leagues. Others are excelling in academics, pursuing careers, and shaping their communities. And in 2025, we reached a new milestone: the opening of the Acakoro Campus in Homa Bay County, a boarding school that unites education and football under one roof – setting a new standard for youth development in East Africa.
