Why Our Term Dates Matter - And Why Our Students Stay on Campus During the Holidays

Kenya’s school calendar follows a clear three-term structure, stretching from early January to mid-December. For many students across the country, the end of each term means packing up, travelling home, and taking a break from the classroom until school reopens.

But at Acakoro Campus, things work a little differently.

While we follow the national calendar and recognize the importance of academic rhythm, our students remain on campus during the April, August, and October breaks. These holiday periods give them something incredibly valuable: uninterrupted time to focus on their football development.

Instead of losing momentum, our players use the holidays for structured training, personal development, and individual learning plans in addition to repetition of their academic learning subjects. It’s a chance to compete together in tournaments that mostly happen during holiday breaks. At the same time, they continue benefiting from the safe, stable environment of campus life, balanced meals, quiet study spaces, mentorship, and a supportive community.

The only time the campus fully closes is from 18 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, giving students and staff a short but well-deserved annual break before the new year begins.

This year-round approach is more than just a schedule, it's a commitment to giving every young athlete the best chance to grow, learn, and reach their potential both in the classroom and on the pitch. Parents of boarders are welcome to visit their child at any time. During national holidays, they may also take their child home for short breaks.

Want to join Acakoro School?

Prospective students must attend one of our official scouting and assessment days, complete the academic and character evaluation, and participate in a short interview with our staff. Successful candidates are then invited for a trial period at the campus, where we assess both football potential and readiness for boarding life. Only after this process can a student be fully admitted into Acakoro School.
